Nanumba chief murdered
A paramount chief of the Nanumba traditional area of the Northern Region, Naa, Abdulai Andani Dasana, and two others have  been gunned down  at his palace yesterday (Thursday) by unknown assailants.

The Chief was said to be observing his evening prayers in his yard when the unknown assailants attacked and shot him dead.
Five others were also reported to have sustained various degrees of the gunshot wounds and have been rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Mr. Misbaw Mohammed, Public Relations Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital in an interview said five injured persons were transferred from Bimbilla the hospital there.
He said one of the five injured passed on while two were said to be in critical conditions while the others were responding to treatment.
Mr. Mohammed said the injured included a four month old baby who was hit by a bullet while he was on his laps when the attackers shot and killed the father.    
The body of the murdered chief has also been deposited at the teaching hospital morgue.
A source from the family in an interview with the press alleged that the unidentified assailants were in the police uniform and camouflage with masks on their faces.
According to the family source, all in the people in the chief’s compound had gone to observe their evening prayers in the near mosque when these unknown assailants sneaked into the compound.
It is still not clear what might have triggered the attack but many in the traditional area are linking it to the protracted chieftaincy dispute there.
A family member by name Abdulai told the press that the unknown assailants after killing the chiefs were firing guns indiscriminately forcing many to run for cover.  
The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru has condemned the murder of the chief.
The Minister said he and other members of the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) were in Bimbilla to ascertain the security situation and take appropriate measure to maintain law and order in the Bimbilla town and its surrounding communities.     
Alhaji Muniru hinted that REGSEC would do everything possible to ensure that perpetrators of the heinous crime are arrested and brought to book.  
Bimbilla; the traditional capital of Nanumba tradition has been engulfed with violence over the chieftaincy title
